  • It's Flu Season

    Message for Dr. Stover:

As you know we have had several students absent in the past few weeks - in some cases between 10% to 15% at some of our schools.  We are aware that this is flu and strep season, and we wanted to inform you of the things we are doing to disinfect our schools.
    *  Our custodians and staff are disinfecting desks, knobs, restrooms, etc. each day and night.
    *  Schools that have experienced multiple days of a 10% absence rate or higher - the district will be sending additional personnel armed with spray equipment to spray and wipe down surfaces throughout the school.
    * All sprays used are hospital grade disinfectants to kill the germs each day and night.
Our schools have been encouraging extra hand washing for students and staff as our Blackboard Connect message indicated last week.  We also ask that as parents you remind your students to wash their hands several times a day and we ask that you do not send your children to school with a fever.  Children need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Thank you for helping to keep our schools clean and safe...
    Dr. Matthew Stover
    CCS Supperintendent

    Academic Excellence

HMA is proud to be in the top 5% of all NC schools for student academic growth.  Our students and teachers are able to achieve this honor by maintaining high standards and requiring rigorous academic coursework.

HMA Math teachers are utilizing Chromebooks to help prepare our students with 21st century skills. The Chromebooks were able to be purchased through a donation from Cargo Transporters.  Thank you John Pope and Cargo Transporters!

Please make sure we have your current email address so you can receive our weekly email.

At HMA, we treat people the RIGHT way.

We are Respectful, act with Integrity, make Good choices, are Honest, and Treat people the way we want to be treated

HMA Wristband   Check out the wristband link!

We will continue to discuss and learn about these beliefs throughout the year.

The mission of H.M. Arndt Middle School is to inspire every student to reach their full potential. The staff at HMA is dedicated to this mission and works diligently to ensure that each student has an opportunity to be successful and reach their full potential.

HMA is recognized as a state leader for student growth, ranking in the top 5% of all North Carolina schools for student growth index. We offer a variety of academic and extra-curricular programs. The H.M. Arndt website details many of these outstanding opportunities.

I encourage parents to use PowerSchool as a way to keep track of their son/daughter’s academic progress. PowerSchool allows parents to see up-to-date grades for each class. Parents who do not have the required login information may come by the school and request the access information.

I hope everyone has a great 2016-17 school year!
