• As you know we have had several students absent in the past few weeks - in some cases between 10% to 15% at some of our schools.  We are aware that this is flu and strep season, and we wanted to inform you of the things we are doing to disinfect our schools.
    *  Our custodians and staff are disinfecting desks, knobs, restrooms, etc. each day and night.
    *  Schools that have experienced multiple days of a 10% absence rate or higher - the district will be sending additional personnel armed with spray equipment to spray and wipe down surfaces throughout the school.
    * All sprays used are hospital grade disinfectants to kill the germs each day and night.
Our schools have been encouraging extra hand washing for students and staff as our Blackboard Connect message indicated last week.  We also ask that as parents you remind your students to wash their hands several times a day and we ask that you do not send your children to school with a fever.  Children need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

  • As you may know this year MMS will host the Kermit Whisnant Annual Basketball Tournament Jan 31 through February 3.  We want it to be the best ever.  We also want to show case our wonderful school and the Maiden Community.
The tournament takes a lot of work and with a small staff it can be difficult to get everything completed.
We need help with getting volunteers to help work the game in a variety of roles along side our staff.  We also need help getting sponsors for the event.
If you can help us or share with others who would be willing to help that would be greatly appreciated !  Please contact the school at 428-2326.  Thanks for your support!

Maiden Middle School is committed to constant improvement.  The MMS School Improvement Plan is the road map we will use as a school community to achieve our goals.  MMS would like to obtain community and parent feedback in regards to our School Improvement Plan.  We ask that you take a few moments to review the Preliminary Plan between now and November 28th and provide feedback.

The Plan is in PDF format.  Click here for the plan.

“We can do anything together if we are willing to: expect the best, reflect on our mistakes, make changes and move forward as a team for the benefit of our students.  So when individuals speak about our school, they smile and say it is the best and here is why…”

Please take the time and call or email if you have questions and concerns as we work to make Maiden Middle School the best school in NC.
