Catawba County has 3 separate school districts, of which Catawba County Schools is the largest with 15 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 5 schools, an early college high school, and an alternative school.

Our schools are arranged by "feeder area." Our students "feed into" the next level of schooling according to "feeder areas." This structure provides a way to coordinate and improve delivery of instruction and other services such as bus transportation and food service. Each feeder area is organized top-down, according to the high school the students will ultimately attend.

Below, you'll see our schools arranged on a map for a reference. They are color-coded by "feeder area".

What is the tuition for students who live outside Catawba County?

The tuition amount for the 2025-2026 school year is $2,146.00. Tuition is required each year, per student, and due 14 days prior to the first day of school.  It is FREE for students who live in Catawba County.

What do I do if my student transfer is approved?

If your transfer is approved, you will receive an approval letter that will have instructions on what to do next, including instructions about how to submit payment for out-of-district students.

Do I need to reapply each year after I've initially been accepted?

    You only need to reapply between 6th & 7th, and 8th & 9th.

Like most districts, CCS schools are set up in what are called feeder patterns.  These patterns group certain elementary schools together and students from those schools go to the same middle school.  The same is true for grouping middle schools together for going on to high school. When a student progresses from 6th to 7th grade, they have to reapply if they want to follow along with their school's feeder pattern, unless they already live in that middle school's attendance boundary. The same is true for students moving from middle to high school (8th to 9th grade).
